I've tried the suggested fixes. 1) Tools>Options>General uncheck "Ignore
other Applications". This at least lets me open the file, but first Excel
tries to find a filename comprised of each name in the path. E.g. It tries
to find "C:\Documents.xls" and I get an error message "file not found." I
click ok and it tries to find the next word in the path - e.g. "and.xls."
This continues until the path is exhausted and Excel finally finds the file.
I've also tried making the desktop my default location by 1)
Tools>Options>General then entering the desktop path in the default location
box.
I've also tried 1) Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2) Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
Did not help. I've also designated the full path to excel.exe.
I typed
Start>Run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\excel.exe /unregserver
and then
Start>Run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\excel.exe /regserver
That failed too. Can anyone help? Thanks.
