can't drag & drop formulas

Had a hard drive crash...reloaded office 2000..now when I
try to drag & drop a formula it doesn't work right. The
formula appears to move properly but excel stores the
value from original cell into the new new cell rather than
calculate a new value...it's maddening

goto 'Tools - Options - Calculate' and check that automatic calculation
is enabled
