Can't edit actual work or remaining work in Project Web Access

Hi all - new poster here.

I have a small project I created as a test out on our MS Project Server.
One of the key needs my company has in their project methodology structure
is that the resources be able to enter their actual work and their remaining
work on their tasks. I am unable to edit these in PWA. I've modified the
timesheet view so it shows the remaining work field and the actual work
field. I have verified that these are not protected fields, however they are
still not able to enter their time in PWA.

Please advise as to what I should try next.

Thanks,

PenE

Which fields are actually open for editing (formatted with a white
background) on each user's View my tasks page?

I actually figured it out. The remaining work and actual work fields were
not in white. But, here's what I did:
I went into the project and chose:

Tools - Customize - Published Fields
Instead of "Use the default method set on the project server" - I picked
"Actual Work Done and Work Remaining." I think the default is % complete.
I clicked OK and then chose Collaborate-Publish - Republish assignments.

I was then able to edit actual and remaining work in my tasks and update the
project manager.

You are following the wrong path to correct this problem. Refer to the
following link for the directions to change your organization's default
method of tracking progress:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/ChangeTrackingMethod.htm

Given your lack of experience with Project Server, I would strongly
recommend you purchase the two books our company has written about Project
Server 2003. Click either one of the URL's in my signature block for
ordering information. Hope this helps.
