Can't edit, system crashes

P

PC

I can't edit documents in Word 2007, I can't open documents by
double-clicking on them, and Word Crashes every time I exit.

I had this problem before, and somewhere, either in Word help or on the MS
site the solution said to delete a file. I did this and everything was fine,
but now it's happening again and I can't find the same instructions again.

In a post below, Terry suggests this may be a bad third party add-in, but I
know this isn't the problem.
Another post below suggests deselcting the HP photosmart printer if I have
one; I don't.

Help!!!

It was probably instructions to delete the Word DataKey.

Word DataKey

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\version number\Word\Data

Thank you Terry. Can you please tell me how to get to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER
to start? It's not obvious where to start from "MyComputer".

Thanks.

From Start, Run (Winkey+R) type in

regedit

and press enter. That opens the registry editor. Please be VERY careful and
make sure that you navigate to the correct DataKey and then delete it.
