Pull the photo out into iPhoto.
Crop it to include only the part you want to see, then re-sample it to a
smaller size.
If you are using iPhoto, you need to use File>Export... Then set the "size"
to "small". If this picture is simply a background, you could also
experiment with reducing the JPEG quality below 50%. Each change will have
a dramatic reduction in the file size.
Then put the pic back in using the "Change Picture" command in Publishing
Layout.

Hi,
I have two brochures - essentially the same, but one has a translucent photo
as a background and the other simply has a fill colour. I have figured out
that that is really the problem, as the one without the photo background sends
fine. The one with the photo background is approx 16 mb - hence the problem,
as none of the email services I use will send it. Even zipped, it is close to
16 mb. If you have any solutions other than dumping the photo background, I'm
all ears.
