Can't embed font in Wordart

W

Wal

I have a document with a Wordart element using a
particular TT font. I have set the "Embed Fonts" option
under Tools/Options/Save, yet when I open this document on
another PC that font is not visible.

Is this normal? Is there a work-around?

Hi Wal,

Font embedding can depend on the font properties
(i.e. the font author can flag the font to not allow
embedding). If you have only WordArt that uses that
font then you may need to include some 'regular' text
(even a blank space) formatted with the font you want
to be embedded for Word to 'know' that you're using
that font in the document.

On the other PC what font did Word use for the WordArt
when you double clicked the WordArt object?

Was the font substituted when checking in
Tools=>Options=>Compatability=>Font Substitution?

Thanks Bob,

I managed to get it working for myself before your reply
by installing the font in question, although that will not
solve the problem if I were to sent it to someone withouth
the font installed.

I tried your suggestiion to have some text in the body
using the font but that still does not work, although it
verified that embedding of the font for normal text works.

When I open Wordart on the destination PC the font box is
blank, and re font substitution it said something like
nothing was neeeded.

Still a mystery...

Hi Wal,

Hmmmm. I wasn't able to duplicate the issue,
but you may want to consider creating your WordArt
then selecting it, ctrl-X (cut) then use
Edit=>Paste Special and choose a PNG or GIF format
for example to paste it into Word as a graphic before
sending the document out to others.
