Can't empty the Clipboard Message

Howdy
For some reason when I attempt to copy data I Excel XP, I
get this message:

Can't empty the Clipboard
I can click OK (the only option)

If I look at the Clipboard, there is NOTHING there. Any
ideas or suggestions. I can't figure out any sort of
steps to recreate it because it happens only after I have
been cutting, pasting, editing, etc. Also, If try copying
and pasting in other apps (i.e. Word, Outlook) nothing
happens - there is no ability to cut or copy and paste. I
have to restart in order to be able it use this feature.
Excel is the only app that gives me a message.

Any suggestions?
