Can't exit cell being edited

Occasionally (it seems random), when entering data in Excel 2003 SP2, the
cell will 'lock up' preventing me from exiting the cell or making any other
changes. The application can't even be killed in task manager. Somebody once
told me a workaround for this (short of rebooting), but I have forgotten it.
Does anyone know that solution?
