Can't explain task breaking - Help!!!!

When I create a test task in Project Professional, using default parameters
and then indicate actual working hours.
Example
task for 2 days
normal workin hours is 8 hours
I work 10 hours 2 days and 10 hours on third day.
I recieve a very strange picture:
1. In the view Ghant Diagramm I see a break in may task - between first 2
days and third day. Nevertheless the data of beginning is 1sr, data of end is
3rd.
2. Duration of task is 2,75. Why???? At whole I have worked 30 hours and I
have indicated this.

If the resource has indicated they were on vacation, you would see what you
mentioned. Open the global resource pool and check their "Working Time". I
bet you will see the resource has "Nonworking time" for the period that
caused the break.

No, this resource hasn't nonworking activities.
Even we create a test project and indacated a resource which is not included
in the global resource pool we recieve the same picture.
I suspect that everybody will receive such picture if do the following steps;
1. Put a task with duration 2 days
2. Appoint any resource on this task. In order to exclude influence of
global resource pool just print any name in this field.
3. The normal working hours is 8 hours per day.
4. Our task have fixed resources and fixed work.
5. I indicate that this resource have worked 10 hours during first day, 10
hours during second day and 10 hours during third day.
6. Go to the Ghant diagramm view.
7. We see that the whole duration of task is 2.75 days (in reality it is 30
hours and we indicate it in step number 4).
8. We see a break between the second and third days.
Why????????
If in point 4 we indicate fixed work and fixed duration everything would be
fine. Why?????
If we indicate the other actual working hours (12, 16, 200 everything also
is fine.
Why?????
I suggest to spend such experience and then try to explain me the reason. i
would be extremly grateful.

I'm fairly certain that you're seeing a bug. Please download and install SP2
and let us know if this behavior corrects itself. Thanks.

Elena:

I've been able to determine that the behavior is by design. When you setup
the task as two days, you get an even spread of work from the beginning to
the end -- 8h on each day. When you add 10h Actual Work on the first day,
what happens is the task actually shortens because on the last day you're
now only doing 6h of work. Thus, at this point, the task's duration is
1.75d. Next, you enter 10h Actual Work on the second day, but because the
task's finish time is actually 3pm instead of 5pm, the 10h of work is
crammed between the start on the second day (8am) and the finish of 3pm.
Finally, when you enter the 10h Actual Work on the third day, it's entered
from 8am - 5pm. In the end, you have the first day = 1d, the second day =
0.75d and the third day = 1d for a total of 2.75d. And, because you have the
working time on the second day from 3pm - 5pm that has no work applied to
it, you get the split
