Can't extend trendline in chart

I used to be able to extend trendlines on a chart backwards and forwards in time without limits. Now it limits the period to a maximum of 5, when I use to be able to enter, e.g., 6800. When I open an old chart and choose "Format Trendline" and look at the Options tab, my old value of 6800 is visible, but as soon as I try to change it, I get the limit of 5 problem.

Works fine here. have you tried the usual tricks, like SaveAs and
play with the new workbook, and deleting the various office.excel.prefs
(not the real name) files?

Multiple "Save As..." and restarts of Excel did fix the problem. Ghosts!
