can't find download applet for 2p2 on Microsoft site

I can't find a download applet for 2p2 that isn't a third party site that is
looking to add their stuff to my browser or sell me software. I would think
that Microsoft would have this listed in their downloads, but I didn't see a
download available for xp home edition on the microsoft download site. I just
got this laptop from my brother in law and it has xp home edition installed
with no service packs. I need at least 2p2 to install Publisher 2007 which I
am using to write a book.

I must be missing something basic. When I go to windows update, I get
updates but nothinig to update me to sp2, so I don't know where to look
