Can't find the headers & footers toolbar

Try as I may, I can't get the Headers & Footers toolbar to appear (using
Word 2002). It used to automatically appear after I did View | Headers &
Footers, but now there is no sign of it. The Help system tells me to do
View | Headers and footers, but then tells me what to do on the Headers
& Footers toolbar - and I can't get the Headers & Footers toolbar. Any
suggestions most welcome, this is preventing me from completing a
document I need urgently.
