Can't force check in on Project in 2007

I have been out of the office and when I returned I discovered a project that
wasn't checked in properly. Because I was not here, the PM created a new
project. When I went into the Queue to research the item and indicated the
date I needed to see, I discovered it was too long ago and the information
had not been retained in the Queue. Now I have a project that I can't delete
as it is showing up as checked out and my resource allocations are distorted
by this phantom project. How do I eliminate this project? Thanks for any
help. dt

You can always force check in a project even if it happened a long time ago
and the failed queue job has been archived from the active queue.

Once you force check it in, you can delete it. Which one of the projects do
you want to keep, the one that you force check in or the new one? Do you
use timesheeting or task updates? This might be a consideration when
deciding how to consolidate the two projects or which project to delete.

Thanks Jonathan. Actually, I did try to force the check in and it wouldn't
respond. So this time I simply continued to click to force the check in and
the 3rd time it did. I wasn't tenacious enough! Thanks again.

Glad to hear you were able to get it checked in. Are you planning to delete
the second projet that was created now?
