Can't get envelope tool to have my Brother printer pull from envelopetray

I'm using Word 2008 for Mac and a Brother MFC 8840D printer. For some
reason, I have been unable to print envelopes. Before I git the Mac
(with a P.C.) the Brother printer would merely pull the envelope from
the auxiliary (envelope) tray. Now all it does is spit out full size
sheet of paper from the main tray with the envelope information
printed on it. I suspect that the software is not instructing the
printer which tray to use. I have looked at all settings, havethe most
recent drivers and can't seem to get it to work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Ray

Hello Ray,

Assuming you have checked the Brother website to make absolutely sure that
you have the latest printer driver, if no-one else here has anything
specific, just slightly pull out the tray that holds the sheets of paper,
which will presumably force the envelope tray to be used. That's how I do it
on one of my printers.

You do know That when you set up envelope printing you have to setup the
printer again . This is a different setting file.

Go to print envelope and click page setup and choose desired envelope
size (#10 is usual Business style envelope). choose one of the two
landscape directions (one used depends upon how Envelopes are loaded
into printer). now get out of setup as you normal would from page setup
for print page. when you click okay should see see a page that resembles
an envelope showing like you would view it when hand writing one You can
actually save this as separate file or automatically attached to the
document you creating the envelope for then click print and print
envelop. You might have to setup page setup and change direction of the
landscape profile once you get direction set correctly don't ever change
this again on any envelopes.

You can use normal printer paper to test on to avoid wasting an envelope.

Thank you Phil and Clive......I have tried both. Neither worked. It is
indeed set for #10 envelope but does not pull from the envelope
feeder.
I also opened the regular paper tray and then it doesn't print at all.
Best regards

Hi Ray -

I'm afraid you're most likely barking up the wrong tree :) Word does
nothing but call the print service & hand off the document data. All other
settings are handled by the printer driver - IOW, once you choose the Print
command Word is pretty much out of the picture.

I'm sure you believe you have the latest driver, but have you checked
Brother's site to be sure? Driver updates occur with a great deal of
regularity. It's also possible that the latest may have broken something
that previously worked. Drivers have also been known to corrupt, so even the
most current may need to be reinstalled on occasion.

I believe you're going to have to get in contact with Brother tech support
in order to resolve this one. The choice you're making is either not getting
to the printer or the printer is disregarding it & there's nothing you can
do from within Word that will correct that.
