I have been trying to find out why this hasnt worked for about 6 months now.
I have about six E#xcel graphs linked to a Word document, all Office 2007,
running Windows XP, all patches current etc. I can open the Word doc on
another PC and allow all links to update and they do so, but on my PC only
tables update and none of the graphs. I made sure Word properties allows for
automatic updates, I made sure all programs are exceptions to McAfee etc. I
notice when I hit alt F9 the locations for the tables show but nothing
changes with the graphs, alhtough I can right clik on the graphs and click
update link 9although they dont update) and can open the link and change the
graph etc but it still wont update. I have deleted these graphs and repasted
them over and over again - past special, paste link, then am given four
options - MS Office Excel Chart Object, Picture, Bitmap and MS Office
Graphics Object, I can paste it as the chart object (but again it wont then
update), or I can paste as the Picture (but formatting changes and it looks
terrible (and again doesnt update) and when I try to paste as graphics Object
it says "word cannot obtain data for the Excel.Sheet.8.link". I have found
soem references to this being a problem with Office 2007 and remember I never
had this problem before I upgraded, but does anyone knwo what i can try or if
upgrading again will fix these issues? I am at my wits end having to manually
delete, copy and paste these graphs every week when they shoudl update with
one click upon opening. Thank you for any help.
