Can't get messages every afternoon-PLEASE HELP!

I've posted this several times and got no answer. Can you help?

Every afternoon from about 1 pm until the next morning, my e-mails stop
coming into Outlook 2003.

They go into Yahoo mail, so I know there are messages incoming. I don't
open or read them in Yahoo (and "leave on server" is checked).

They come in fine all morning, and then....nothing. "Send/Receive" logo
doesn't even show up when I manually chose it. The next morning-there they
are.

HELP! Thanks, Lisa

you’re shutting down at night and rebooting in the morn? How often are you
checking for new mail?

Yes, messages come in automatically every 5 minutes all morning. All of a
sudden, they stop coming after noon. If I press F9 or Tools-Send-Receive,
nothing happens (the icon doesn't even show up in the tray). However,
sending is not a problem.

They all appear when I reboot in the morning. Of course, if I re-boot
during the afternoon, they come in, too. Not doing that all day, however!

I'm with SBCGlobal (who says this is an Outlook problem), so I can see the
messages in Yahoo mail. My Outlook came OEM, so I'm not sure how to
reinstall it if that will even help.

Thank you SO much for even looking at this message...I am so frustrated!

Hi Diane-Yes, I shut down every night and reboot in the morning. I think I
have it auto set to deliver new mail every 5 minutes. However, right around
noon, auto and manual send stops working. If I were to open Yahoo Mail (I'm
with SBC), I have new message there. When I reboot in the a.m., the messages
all appear.

Thanks, Lisa

You have something running on your host that blocks POP traffic during
certain times of the day. Check your firewall settings, your router,
any anti-malware, anti-spam, or other security software.

Does Outlook work okay in the afternoon if you start Outlook in its safe
mode ("outlook.exe /safe"). If so, you have an interferring add-on.

See what happens if you boot into Windows safe mode. If you can receive
e-mails in the afternoon, something that you load in normal mode for
Windows startup is interferring with receiving e-mails.

AMEN!!!!!! You are all wonderful!

Now, exactly what am I looking for in my firewall, antivirus, etc?

I will start it in safemode tomorrow and see what happens. THANK YOU
