can't get MS Outlook 2007 to open successfully as "Microsoft Excha

I am unable to open Microsoft Outlook 2007 in Windows 7 successfully as when
I open it starts a chain of message box that with any option I select
eventually closes Outlook. Below are messages I receive.

Message box reads
“Configuring Outlookâ€
Configuring Outlook Accounts

“Connecting to Microsoft Exchangeâ€
Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.
Retry Work Offline Cancel

Choosing any of these 3 options is a “dead end†as:
“Retry†- just loops endlessly back to the same message
“Work Offline†– selecting this then prompts a message box that reads
“Cannot open your default e-mail folders. Your profile is not configured†.
When I select OK (the only option to select) it closes Outlook
“Cancel†– closes Outlook

I've now unistalled Microsoft Outlook 2007 twice and then reinstalled but
that did not make any difference as I receive the same message boxes. The
first time I installed and opened outlook I went to set up a new account. I
entered in my Exchange server name, email name, and password hoping to
connect to my work email (as I've done previously). It could not identify
either my username or connect to the server successfully. My plan was then
to at least pop to another one of my email accounts instead (such as Gmail,
etc.) or to make adjustments to the settings to successfully connect to my
work email but now I can't open Outlook 2007 successfully to make any changes.

How can I resolve/fix this situation.

Thank you

Use the mail applet in the control panel create a new profile and then
delete the old one.

Thanks neo! I had orinially looked for a mail icon in the control panel and
couldn't find one in Windows 7 so I didn't realize I could located it but I
entered it into the search based on your below. I created a profile for my
Gmail account and deleted as you describe and it works! I spent a ridiculous
amount of time attempting to resolve and after your post it took me about 60
seconds to fux.

So a big thanks you!

Google's e-mail service (Gmail) does NOT use Exchange. So why were you
attempting to define an e-mail account to a mail server type to which you
had no access?
