Hi everyone;
Having purchased a new machine, I need to move my Outlook 2000 data over
from my old Windows 98 based computer to the new XP Home Edition one. After
days of trying, my 'Contact' file shows only a half-dozen or so names,
including a few that appear to have installed from recently received emails.
The 'Contact' folder has about a dozen sub-folders and each of them should
have their own entries. Everything is there, but when I'm ready to send an
e-mail and use the 'To' button, none of the entries show up in the address
book - just the few names in 'Contacts'.I have tried every possible means to
export/import my Contacts and it's sub-folders. I did the .pst export and
import. I tried deleting the newly installed Outlook.pst file and replacing
it with the same file from my previous machine. I tried exporting/importing
via .csv files.
I followed the directions from Microsoft's Office Online service - and while
I found all the files (.pst, .fav, .dat, .rwz, etc) in all the right places
on the old Windows 98 machine, I could not find the same locations (as per
Microsofts instructions) on the new machine. For example, there doesn't
appear to be a C:\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
folder (or any of the others listed by MS) on my XP Home Edition system - so
I don't know where to put the files.
MS also publised a bulletin titled: "Contact information does not appear in
the address book in Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003." The solutions they
provide:
TOOLS menu
click E-mail Accounts
don't show up in my Outlook 2000 at all, nor do the balance of their
instructions.
If anyone has an answer as to how to get all my contact e-mail entries into
my address book, I'd be mighty grateful.
