Can't get navigation keys to work on Excel

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I used to be able to get the navigation keys (the ones with the arrows) to move from cell to cell on Excel. Since I installed Snow Leopard, that just won't happen. Any ideas?

Make certain that you have all Office & OS X updates applied as well as any
available firmware updates for whatever model of Mac you have. If you're
using a 3rd party keyboard check the mfr's site for a driver update.

Also, repair disk permissions & restart your Mac.

There is no known conflict of that nature - I run Excel 2008 in SL on a MBP
with no lack of response from the arrow keys, so the problem must be local
to your installation. If the suggestions above do resolve it the next most
likely cause would be any helper/haxie apps you may have installed. You can
test by logging in while holding the Shift key & launch Excel while no other
programs are running. If all works as it should it's a sure indication that
some other program is interfering with keyboard operation... It then becomes
a process of elimination to determine which one is the culprit.

Check, check and no, it's the Apple keyboard that came in the box.

OS X includes a program called Disk Utility which provides a number of disk
management functions. You'll find it in the Applications> Utilities folder.

Once you launch it select your HD in the left panel & on the First Aid page
click the Repair Disk Permissions button. I doubt that it alone will resolve
your keyboard issue, though. It's a maintenance procedure which can help
resolve some issues & clears the way for further troubleshooting of others.

My guess is that there is some other software interfering as per the last
paragraph of my previous reply.
