I'm hoping that this is some kind of known bug.
running Mac 10.3.8 on iMac with 1.5GB ram and 100GB free disk
space. Using Word from Office 2004 for Mac.
From her standard account, my wife had filled out a government
employment form that was done in Word. She used the same form for
4 applications but only needed to change a single number on page
5 of each form. Rather than print all 20 pages out again, I
attempted to print just the last page. I discovered that
everytime I attempted to use the range From: 5 to: 5, or the
single ranging value of 5, It would be a null page (nothing would
print). A preview would show a blank page.
Furthermore, after the first attempt, it you try to do this
again, the print dialog box would refuse to accept any keystrokes
in those fields at all--they would then be totally brain-dead.
The only way to get back the ability to enter values in those
fields is to delete all of the office 2004 preference files and
restart Word. This cycle went on for me for about 15 minutes
trying various permutation until I discovered the ability to
select a line on the page I wanted and then requested a "Print
current page"
Please someone tell me they've seen this and what the problem is.
Every single other application that I have on my system performs
this function very well and exactly as expected--but then again,
they aren't using what appears to be a modifed version of the
generic Mac OS printer driver.
Any ideas of what is going on?
