Can't get red connection points.

In my current diagram. (which I created without knowing what I was
really doing(and still really don't)), when I try to use the connector
tool to make a point to point or shape to shape connection, I can't
see the red square around the point or the red border around the
entire shape.

The red box or border does show up when I start a blank diagram. Did
I turn something off in my current drawing that causes the red boxes
not to show at the connection points? (the connection points option in
the View menu is checked) (Also snap and glue were turned on for the
current layer)

Have you checked the settings under Tools > Snap & Glue?
