Can't get rid of "corner markers"

T

TW

Until today I have had no problem creating a blank word
document using Word 2002. But now, when I open up a new
blank document, I would get these little corner markers
(for a lack of a better description) located about one
inch from each of the corner's edge. Each corner markers
consists of two lines, about a half inch each, that run
perpendicular to each other. Somehow they got inserted
into the template of the blank document and I can not get
rid of them.

When I open up my old word documents, these corner
markers have been inserted into them as well.

I'm stumped! I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks!

TW,

These "crop marks" are due to an East Asian language which has been enabled
on your computer. START>All Programs>Microsoft Office Tools>Microsoft
Office XP Language Settings and remove any East Asian languages appearing in
the enabled language window.

Greg,

Thank you for your prompt assistance, but I think my
problem is a little more serious than we thought. I
tried doing what you had suggested. After I clicked on
the Microsoft Office XP Language Settings the following
message appeared:

The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other
removeable disk that is not available...Insert
the 'Microsoft Word 2002' disk & click OK.

Earlier in the day, I was not able to open any word files
and got that same message. I inserted the Microsoft Word
2002 disk as instructed, was able to open my word files,
but it was also then that I got the crop markers.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks so much.

TW,

You might check Control Panel>Add Remove Programs. Click "Change" on your
Office Application and then Add or Remove Features. Click the advanced
customizations box and verify that the Office Tools>Langauge Setting Tools
is installed.

Greg,

Thank you so much! Your original suggestion to remove
the Asian languages from Microsoft Office XP Language
Setting worked like a charm. It didn't work for me last
night, but I tried it again today (after I was
unsuccessful at completing your second suggestion) and
was successful in removing the crop markers.

This time, I was again prompted to insert the Microsoft
Word 2002 disk. I loaded the disc and it ran through a
brief installation process. When it was completed, it
allowed me to continue and remove the Asian Languages
from my settings.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad I found this newsgroup
page.
