Can't get rid of Windows Task Pane.

It always comes up every time I open word. I unchecked the option in tools
and tried everything I could think of. IT re-installed MS Word on my computer
and I still have the problem. They answered that they would probably have to
totally reformat my drive just to get the MS Word file that won't let the
option turn off. Help.
