Can't get tasks that were never charged time off timesheets

This is the scenario. We cancelled a few projects and the result was many
tasks with resources assigned have 0h Actual Work. The first thing I did was
zero out all remaining work and the tasks in Project went to 100% Completed
and 100% Work Completed and 0h Actual Work. I then set all resources to
"Proposed" and Republish Assignments. However, the tasks still shows up on
the timesheet as a Current Task with 0h Work, 0h Remaining Work, BUT 0% Work
Completed. My guess is that because the % Work Completed is 0% instead of
100% the system considers this a Current task and it stays on the timesheet.
Any recommendations how to get these off the timesheet? Cancelled projects
must stay on the server. Deleting them is not an option.

Set the booking type to committed, use the republish and overwrite actual
work to synch up the timesheets and then set back to proposed.

Gary,
Thanks for the help. Do I need to republish assignments again after setting
resources to back to proposed? If so do I need to overwrite actuals too?

Skip:

Is it safe to assume that resumption of the project will require
rescheduling the work as well? First you need to reschedule to the status
date, and I'd certainly want to use republish just in case.
