can't get word to run after installing update

I installed update SR-1a because Word (2000) was shutting down immediately
after opening it. I used my Works/Word disc when prompted, got message
installed correctly; now same thing still happening. I tried FAQ; the only
one that applied said problem due to using unlicensed version. It said that
users who have licensed versions will not run into this problem. I do have
licensed version, in fact, when I installed my Office disk onto new computer
1 day before problem began, I called support to get new CD-key #. Thought
that installing update would solve problem, it didn't.
