can't hide tracked changes

I cut and pasted part of one document into another, both of which had
tracked changes on. Now I cannot accept or hide the track changes for
half of my document.

It should be noted that I have switched between .doc and .rtf and .wps
as well as Word200, Word2003 and MSWorks at various points due to
switching computers (& differing software). Perhaps the problem lies
here?

Don't know if this detail might also be helpful: now, the portion of
the doc where the tracked changes are always visible show additions and
deletions as blue, insted of additions in blue and deletions in red.

Any idea?
