can't I open .jpg in MS Office Picture Manager in Intraspect

I receive an error message stating;
Picture Manager is unable to open pictures over the Internet that are not
from a Windows SharePoint Services picture library. Please specify a valid
picture library and try again.

I should be able to open pictures stored in any library I have them in.

Hi Michelle,

MS Office Picture Manager generally works with 'file servers' rather than web servers as it catalogs the files there. Outside of
the Office product family (which includes Sharepoint) you may want to check with the service provider or the software provider
(http://vignette.com in the case of Intraspect) to see what options they support to enable their applications to be able to 'talk'
to Office Picture Manager, if any.
