can't import contacts folder

I saved outlook folders (calendar & contacts) as .pst
files (folders?) on CD before doing re-install of hard
drive. After reinstall of Windows ME & Outlook (from
Office 97 Professional), imported calendar OK, but so far,
can't import contacts.
When I choose 'import' from contacts folder menu - I don't
get choice of importing from disk or from copy I've
transferred to the desktop.

You are not given the chance to browse to the location of the PST file you
want to import?
Not possible.
List the steps you are using so we can see what you're doing wrong.
