Can't import entourage messages

T

tursiops888

I just bought a new mac and am running OS 10.4.8. A few months ago, my
old version of entourage (Office X) on my old mac stopped opening.
Everytime I tried, it gave me the "entourage has unexpectedly quit"
message. So when I got my new mac, I tried to import all of the
messages, addresses etc. I created a new identity, and found the "Main
Identity" folder from my old mac. It imported all my addresses,
preferences...everything except my old messages. I've tried several
times with the same result. I know they're there, my database file is
like 1GB, but for some reason, the new entourage program won't import
them. Does anyone have any ideas??? I'm dying here! Thanks for any
help!

You can import from an older version to a newer version.

OE to Entourage 2001
OE to Entourage X or Entourage 2004
Entourage 2001 to Entourage X or Entourage 2004

You cannot import from a newer version to an older version. eg: Entourage X
to OE or Entourage 2001 using Entourage.

You cannot import from the same version of Entourage. eg: Entourage X to
Entourage X or Entourage 2001 to Entourage 2001. You can use the MBOX method
or the Export-Import Scripts <http://scriptbuilders.net/> to transfer mail
from one identity to another.

If you drag a folder of messages to the desktop, Entourage will
automatically create an MBOX file. You can use these to store messages and
reduce the size of your database.
