Can't import Office-files from a backup CD

Hi,

I managed to do a backup CD from my previous WinXP Home/Office 2000
installation. "Junior" was creative with a Linux installation and the whole
system went down...
When I now have installed WinXP Home/Office 2000 again and try to access
the files on the CD, the error message is something like "those files are
corrupt" and the different applications shuts down.

What to do??

Thanks for any help!

How was the back-up created?
Was it a back-up or just a file copy.
If it was a straight copy, the files should just open,
If it was a back-up, the files will need to be Restored first

If they were just copied to the CD, you should be able to just open them.
If some other tool/utility was used then you will need to restore them using
the same tool/utility, selecting restore rather than back-up, and (possably)
selecting the files to restore, depending on what was used.
