Can't Insert CMYK Pictures

I am trying to insert a picture into a Word doc which is saved as a
Photoshop CMYK tiff. I am sure I have done this before, and my client
can do it just fine on her PC. However, now the picture will not show up
unless I resave it as an RGB. What is going on?

I am using Word for OSx on a G5 running OSx v10.2.8.

I just recently upgraded to Panter (OS 10.3) and started experiencing
the same problems. I've scoured the net to find a solution and have
come up with nada. I'll be most interested to learn a fix/work-around
for this!
