Can't insert Common Dialog Control

D

Dave

This should be simple for someone!!

I am in MS Word 2000 trying to insert an ActiveX control
called Common Dialog Control V6. I see the control in the
list, but when I click on it it says "The server application,
source file, or item cannot be found".

Any help??

It means the Common Dialog activeX control
isn't registered properly.

Instead of going thru the process of registering the
ActiveX control, and the next problem: having to
distribute that along with yr addin/application, perhaps
you cud elaborate on what you want to achieve.

Maybe there are workarounds that won't need to go
through registration/distribution processes ....

I have a table in a Word doc with a button in one of the
cells. When I click the button a File Selection Dialog opens,
you choose a .jpg file, and the selected photo is inserted in
the cell. This works perfect on my PC.

I have tried to insert the Common Dialog ActiveX Control on
three other PC's, all with Office 2000 and I get the error
mentioned above. I found the .ocx file on all of the PC's and
they are identical and in the same folder. I don't understand
why the control shows up in the ActiveX list from the toobar
if is not really available. It's also hard to understand why
this condition exists on my laptop but not my desktop and why
some of my friends have the same problem.

Thanks for any further help with this.
