## Can't insert multidiagonal cell ##

W

Wai

Product: MS Word 2002 (English version)

I add a command in "tools | customize | command | all
commands | TableWizard"
When you drag it out, its name will change into "Insert
multidiagonal cell"

I tried to press it i the table, but no response.
What's wrong?

How can I use it?
[Please tell me step-by-step if possible, thanks !!]

Thank you very much for your attention and answers.

Are you using an English or Asian version of Word.

AFAIK this command is for Asian language support but I don't know what
it is supposed to do. ::-(

As sated in previous post, I am using English version.
Oh!! why just for Asian version...
That's bad.

Western people may also find it useful.
AFAIK this command is used to create a cell like:

--------
|\ |
| \ |
| \ |
| \ |
| \ |
| \|
--------

Word will be automatically fit the text and adjust text
direction correctly into this multidiagonal cell when you
type words into the cell

It is often use for the very first cell in a table which
indicates what its first row and column mean.

eg:
\ Te | XX | YY | ...
\ am*| | |
S \ | | |
ea \ | | |
son* \| | |
----------------------------
Spring | | |
----------------------------
Summer | | |
----------------------------

* "Season" and "team" are shown obliquely.

No language barrier for this feature please!

In English versions you can insert a diagonal line in a cell, but this
doesn't actually subdivide it. You can place text in the two triangles
manually.

Also unlike Word in very early verison, I can use WordArt
to type in plain text and make rotations.

Now I need to create do the following:
1. create a textbox
2. type in text
3. copy and special paste as graphic
4. rotate the graphic text

But you know, there are quite many limitations and
inconvenience for this method.

Ar....... Why Eng version doesn't have multi-diagonal
cells {sigh}

You can still use WordArt; it's just harder to get it to look like ordinary
text.

I use the second WordArt style in the Gallery and change the WordArt
shape to plain text.
