Can't Insert Objects

R

Rich

Hi,
I've lost the ability to do Insert Object of any ActiveX Servers like Excel
spreadsheets. For example, I can't insert an Excel spreadsheet or edit an
existing embedded Excel spreadsheet. In fact no program that normally does
Insert Object can insert anymore. This includes WordPad, office products,
etc.

I reinstalled Office with no result. I think registry settings at the OS
level pertaining to starting automation servers may have been corrupted.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?UmljaA==?=,

This is a programming group; the better place to have asked this question
would have been the office.setup group. You'd have probably gotten an answer
before now. be sure to mention the version of Office involved, and any error
messages you're seeing.

My guess would be that this may be due to another application interfering at
the Windows level. The Norton Office-Plug-in, for example. Turn off any
"management" software and see if that makes a difference. You might also try
starting Windows in SAFE MODE and see if the problem goes away.
