Can't insert pictures downloaded from web

I right click on an image (usually from a Google image
search) and save to file. When I go to insert the
picture into my word document, I get the following error
message: "Paint cannot read this file. This is not a
valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently
supported." All my graphic filters are loaded, the
images are in JPEG format. My older computer running
Word 2000 has no problem downloading images from the
web. Is there something I need to reset in Word 2002?

Is it a method other than Insert=>Picture=>From File

I am using Insert-Picture-From File. Sometimes I get a
box asking to "convert image from:" and a list of
formats, but nothing I've tried has worked. I was going
to unistall Word and reinstall it to see if I did
something wrong on installation.
