can't insert pictures in word 2003

All of a sudden, I can't insert pictures into Word 2003. An outline box shows
up, the dimensions of the picture I'm trying to imsert, but it is blank.
Worked find until a few days ago.

Look at Tols>Options>View, make sure you haven't checked Picture
Placeholders.
