Can't install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack

I am not able to load "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats" for reading these files using
Office 2003. This, after loading FileFormatConverts.exe.

I click Run and I receive the following error message: "The installation of
this package failed."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Dave the Red,

A couple of things to try:

- Check for plenty of free disk space (clean out your default temp
directory; often c:\windows\temp or c:\winnt\temp)
- Use Windows Installer 3.1 if you aren't already

I have found this installation to fail when the user does not have
administrative rights to that computer. Check to see if you have
admin rights, if not have admin install the file.
