Can't install ODBC Add-in Part 4

O

oldjay

I am using Win2000PRO
Found odbccp32.cpl
Double clicked the file in c:\winnt\System32
Clicked on Drivers
Showed a lot of drivers including the one for the database
I am trying to access(Access).

When I open the Excel file that is references an Access
database it asked if I want to Add the add-in. When I say
yes it gives Error1919 "Error configuring data
source:Access database error 6: component not found in
registry Verify that the Access database exist and that
you can access it"
It does exist on the network and I can access thru Windows
Explorer

I will repeat my answer to your other post. Post your results to each of the
points below so trouble-shooting steps can be narrowed down.

In Office 2000 I get the following message when trying
to install this add-in "[Microsoft] odbc driver manger
data source name not found & no default driver specified"

You opened the ODBC Data Source Dialog box.

Was Access listed as one of the available under "User DSN"?

If not, click "Add" and select from the list.

If so, select it and click "Configure".

When the dialog for Access Setup comes up, click on Database>Select.

Browse to the database(*.mdb) and select that.

OK your way out and keep trying.

Other than this, I am at a loss.

You might try one of the msnews.microsoft.com Access Groups.

microsoft.public.access.odbcclientsvr may be of help.
