Can't install Office 2000 on XP System

I just purchased a new desktop computer and I am trying
to load my Office 2000 Professional on it and it will not
install because of an "Error 1608" . It says "Failed to
locate a valid qualifying product on your computer". It
also says Error 1608 "Could not find a previously
installed compliant product on your system for this
product.
I don't get it, I purposelly purchased my new computer
with only "Works Suite" because I own Office 2000 Pro and
knew I could load it on my new system. Does anyone know
how or what I need to do to install this on my XP?

Thanks,

Rich

You apparently have an update version of office 2000 and it cant find a
qualifying product on your computer. I dont think that Works suite qualifies
