Can't install Office 2000 Patches

When I try to install Office 2000 Patches, I get the following message:
"Installation source for product not available. Verify that the source
exists and you can access it".

I've gone online, and some suggest I use the Microsoft Installer utility to
uninstall, and then reinstall Office. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, and I
can't install what Microsoft considers Critical patches. Please note I can
download, just can't install.

Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do? I can't even uninstall
MS-Office and start over!!!

Thanks in advance,

-Steve C.

When I had a problem like this, it was due to the fact the registry had
become corrupted so that the Service Packs, although loaded, were not being
correctly shown. (All the About info said service pack three). When you read
the information in the patch data, it normally says what the min revision
level should be i.e Service Pack two or three. The patches will not load if
you don't have the correct SP registered in the directory. I think when the
SP's are loaded it changes a 21 digit code associated with files and if the
code is the wrong one as far as the patch is concerned, it will not load.
What you could do is try reloading the service packs from one and then three
(two is included in three) and then try the patches.

Hello

By any chance did you uninstall some parts of Off 2000 from Add\Remove or with the Installer Clean Up Utility? Unfortunately if that is the case you would need your Off 2000 CD's. Or purchase a Off 2003 from a reputable store
