Can't install Office 2003 Pro

I posted this on the Office Setup Forum but didn't get a response, hopefully
someone will have an answer for me here.....

I have a pc that was running Office 2003 PRO sluggishly so I tried to run
Detect and Repair but it failed. I couldn't even uninstall it from the
control panel so I used the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool to remove it. Now
when I try to install Office again it comes up with this message:

Insufficient Disk Space
The highlighted volumes do not have enough disk space available for the
currently selected features.

It displays the D: drive as the install volume. That's the CDROM drive! I
can't change it to C:. I've tried changing the drive letter for the cdrom and
found a thread that suggested changing the C: drive letter but it's the
system volume and can't be changed. As a test I installed Office 2003 SBE, it
loaded OK. It bought me some time but will only work for 45 loads because
it's installed on another pc and can't be activated again.

Trying to install 2003 Pro over the 2003 SBE gives the same message.

Any ideas?

Colin

I solved this problem today. First I installed a 2nd hard drive (as D) and
the install went fine. Turns out that the install process created a folder on
this D drive called MSOCache. This is the Local Installation Source directory
that Office uses to copy the installation source files. For some reason this
pc thought it should be using the D drive for this even though there wasn't
one. That's when I found the Local Installation Source Tool (
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=10fa7aa3-695b-42c3-9045-b812ba0fed3e
) which let me move this MSOCache folder to the C drive. Weird problem with
a simple answer.
