Can't install Office 2007 Professional

David Wheeler

Setup starts, but the nothing happens in the progress indicator.

I've tried disabling antivirus and my CDROM driver is the latest available.

I already have Office 2003 installed.

I am running XP; can anyone advise?

In frustration,

David

Hi Peter,

Office 2007 Pro;

Office 2003 version 11.8118.8107 SP2

Windows XP SP3

Purchased CDROMs direct from Microsoft last week;

Haven't got as far as directing the install - I selected 'remove previous
version' on initial screen. Then - nothing, eventually get an error 'Setup
encountered a problem' and it closes.

I am having the same problem. I followed every procedure to uninstall
previous version, traces of office in temp folder, delete registry keys and
the kitchen sink. All instrctions by microsoft tech net and still I get the
same error. The disk is good since and my pc is up to date. Just hope I did
not flush a bundle of $ done the drain. If you find out the problem or I do
lets post it in this thread.

Thanks

This means that your previous version did not uninstall completely and some files
(reg) is blocking the install
How did you uninstall it. Add Remove or used the Uninstall from the program

Should you have to remove previous versions? I've never done that and have
had full version of 97, then upgrades for 2000 and 2003.

I am getting a new PC so am putting the upgrade project on hold for a while.

Best Regards,

David
