Cant install Ofice

S

silvrbac

I have windows XP and I am trying to install Microsoft Office
Student/Teacher edition 2003. I keep getting a message during install that
says I have an incomplete service pack installation and to check windows
update. When I do that, the only updates I get are KB835732 and KB840987. I
have downloaded, installed, and restarted these several times, but they keep
coming back on windows update. I checked install/remove programs on the hard
drive and they are there, so I guess that means they took. The software is
good because it installed without a problem on the laptop, I just cant get it
to go on this desktop. It's licensed for 3 computers, so its not licensing
conflict. Anyone have any idea what could be going on??
thankyou

silvrbac,
Possibly incorrect / corrupted Windows installer information for Office
updates here:
"I have downloaded, installed, and restarted these several times"
If you have the installation media for your Office XP version to use as a
reinstall, have a look at this utility
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301&Product=offxp#appliesto
it may allow you to "clean" your original Office XP installer files then
reinstall XP to apply your Office STE 2003 edition upgrade.
May help.
