Dear All,

I hope that someone cant help me in this. Basicaly I am unable to install
the following updates:
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB914455)
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB921566)

I am not so sure why, and I have done everything that is known to install
them, i.e. doing a detect & replair on Ms Office 2003, installing them
manually, and everything that has been listed with no luck.

Has anyone faced the same issue with the above mentioned updates, and if so,
what can be done.

Thank you all for your assistance.

Yours,

Hi, Nabil,

When you apply them manually, do you receive an error of some kind?

Dear Susan,

Thank you for your reply.
When I tried applying them manually I also got the same error that they
failed to install. The error is the same as the one I got when I installed
through the Auto-Update manner, which is:
Error Code: 0x80070643

The same error code is for both updates.

Is there a solution for this?? As I dont even see re-installing Ms. Office
2003 would do any good.

Thank you for all your appreciated assistance, and I look forward to hearing
from you soon.

Best of Regards,

Hello

Try the following and see if it will do the trick for you.

1st Rename Office subkeys

Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.

1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0

4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.

2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right pane
and click Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires.
6. Select “Reinstall and Repair†and click Next.
7. Select “Detect and Repair errors in my Office installationâ€.
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.

3rd. Install the Updates
