Can't launch Entourage X

Hi,

I've a problem with my Entourage X.

- When click the Entourage icon to start up Entourage, I get the
following message : "Entourage can not access your data. To attempt to
fix your problem, rebuild the database".

- Then I can choose between a typical rebuild or an advanced one.
When I choose typical rebuild, I get the message : "Compacting failed.
An unknown error (4361) occurred".

- Entourage then suggests to do an advanced rebuild, but I get the
same problem as I got with the typical rebuild : "Compacting failed. An
unknown error (4361) occurred". And then : "Rebuilding failed. It is
likely that your database cannot be repaired".

So, what can I do to save my e-mails ? Is there anyone of you who has a
solution ?

Thanks in advance,
Guido

This could indicate corrupt preferences. See The Entourage Help
Page for a
suggested fix.

Try removing the files indicated and then try another database rebuild if
necessary.

I did what you suggested, but removing the preferences didn't help. I
get the same : Entourage can't rebuild because of an error 4361. So, I
can't launch Entourage neither.
Is there any other solution to recover my emails ?

Thanks,
Guido

Did you try the rebuild database suggested?

Troubleshooting tips:
Move your current identity out of your Identity folder to your desktop. When
you launch Entourage it should create a brand new blank identity. If
Entourage does not launch with a clean identity, then check your user's
folder.

User Folder: In System Preferences: Users: Create a new user. Log Out/In to
new user. Open Entourage and see if the problems go away. If problems
disappear then you know it's a conflict or corruption in your user folder.

Run Repair Permissions: Run Repair Permissions after any software update
from Apple and for other software updates. To use. open Disk Utility in your
~/Applications/Utility folder. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair
Permissions. Don't run from CD as updates have a newer version of Repair
Permissions.
