Hi,
One of my users is having a problem when she tries to insert an Excel object
in PowerPoint. In PowerPoint I select Insert | Object and create an object
from a file. Navigate to the Excel workbook of interest, click Ok or
whatever and this generates an error that Excel cannot be started, asks if
you want to send a report to Microsoft and then asks if you want to start
Excel in Safe Mode. I do find that if I start Excel first and then try the
insert, then I don't get the error.
What I've tried so far is to do a Help | Detect and Repair, I've run Windows
update and applied all updates to Windows and Office, I've defragged the
hard drive. I've even deleted the user's profile and recreated it.
This error occurs to everyone on this workstation except the Domain
Administrator. I even made one of the users an administrator but that
didn't help. I've tried several Excel workbooks on this workstation all
with the same results. But using those same workbooks on different
workstations works fine.
I previously posted this in the PowerPoint group but they were unable to
help me find a solution. Hoping someone here might have seen this problem
before and will have an idea what to do.
Thanks in advance,
Linn
