Can't load emailed files...

Hello -- and an advance thanks! I'm delighted to find out that you
exist...

I have an ibook ibook with OSX.2.5. I had Office for Mac installed
mainly for Word. I've had very little experience with Excel.

I just tried to load a .cwv file someone emailed to me, but I get the
following error message:

Microsoft Office cannot load MicroSoft Office
and Shared Libraries

The files may have been moved from their original locations

Try the following:
--Move back Excel to the Microsoft Office Folder (or the
folder
where it was originally installed or
-- Reinstall Excell to make sure all the files are installed
correctly.

Yes, that sounds reasonable, but... Excel is in the Office File, which
is exactly where it was intalled by the kind folks at Apple. As for
reinstallation, I am nervous about possibility of obliterating my
World files. That would be catastrophic.

Does anybody know why I might be getting this message. Also, any
guidance re reinstallation would be very much appreciated.

Thanks again...

- Janet

Hi

Try this with all applications closed.

Go to the Applications folder > Utilities Folder > Disk Utility

Run disk utility and click on the First Aid tab. Click on the hard drive
name then click the "repair permissions" button.

It takes a few minutes. Then try Excel again.
