Can't load Office 2007 - Can't uninstall Beta version

I loaded and tried the Office 2007 Beta last year and quite enjoyed its new
features. Then, of course, it switched off yesterday without any warning.
So I decided to go out and buy the Home and Student version (£100) and tried
to load it today. A message appears saying that Office cannot load while a
beta version is still on the system. I followed the instructions to uninstall
the Beta. But the beta won't uninstall. It just sits there. Unusable.
Uninstallable. So now I can't use 2007 at all. I'm in a loop. Any ideas out
there?
