"Can't Locate software"

V

VA

I am starting the process of updating Word 2004 for the Mac from v. 11.2.0. After downloading the Office 11.3.0 Update, I get an error message saying that the update "can't locate the correct software."

I have no idea how the updater manages to "locate" Word 2004 (the only piece of Office I own), but however it does, it doesn't work on my MacMini Intel with OS 10.4.11.

Since I have about five more of these updates to go through, I hope there's a solution to make all this work.

Thanks for reading.

That message means that it cannot find software at the correct revision
level.

You need to apply an earlier update first.

The updates must go in, in the sequence they were released.

The website will indicate which updates are pre-requisites for each update.

There are two kinds of updates: "Service Packs" and "Patches". A "Service
Pack" is self-contained and will apply itself to software in any revision
state older than itself. A "patch" is version-specific, and requires as a
minimum the previous Service Pack before it can apply.

For Office 2004, start with Service Pack 11.3.5. That will apply to
anything from Office 11.0.0 forward :)

Hope this helps
