Can't make 17x11" Word doc into PDF

C

Colleen C.

Can somebody please tell me how to make a custom sized 17x11" document
in Word 2004 for Mac, Version 11.1 into a PDF? I don't need to print
it. I just want to email it as a PDF to my printer, but I don't want
the fonts and other things to change...hence the need to make it into
a PDF.

Thanks,
Colleen C.

Did you try setting up custom paper size? I just managed to do that, even
with a printer that does not appear to support that size, by going to File |
Page Setup, and using the Settings pop up to set a custom paper size in
Word, then printing to PDF.

Yes, I went into Page Setup and from Settings selected Custom Paper
Size plugging in 17" width and 11" height. I tried it with "Use custom
page size" checked and unchecked, but both then produce a PDF that is
only a 8.5x11" portion of my document. I need a PDF of the entire
document, full scale.

Please HELP!!!!!!!

In that case, ask your printing service what printer they are using, and try
installing the driver for that printer. Word shouldn't care if you have the
actual printer hooked up, but it will take the settings from the driver and
should allow you to select 17x11 paper and will fill the paper with the
text.

On relooking at my tests, it worked once but not the second time, and now I
can't sort out what I did.

You can set the document size in acrobat to print out the document
using you desired printer.

If however, you leave setup to 8-1/2 by 11 and then happen to leave the
setting reduce to fit page (not sure if I am saying right trying to
remember from memory) it will reduce a legal size page to (or whatever)
to fit a letter size page.

You have to set margins using the desired printer's print driver setting
first in Page setup and the when you choose to print you must also
select that same printer if its anot already selected.

If a PDF is veiwed on a web page it automatically fits the desired
proportions.
